Maples Class have been awarded First Place in this year's Bournemouth in Bloom competition

We are delighted to announce that Maples Class have been awarded First Place in this year's Bournemouth in Bloom competition. The theme for 2026 was "Edible Gardens", and our gardeners truly impressed the judges by successfully growing an incredible 35 different varieties of fruits, vegetables and edible plants.
This achievement reflects our commitment to providing meaningful, hands-on learning experiences that inspire children to explore, discover and thrive. At Park School Nursery, we believe gardening is far more than simply planting seeds – it is a powerful tool for supporting children's learning and development across all areas of the curriculum.
As children plant, nurture and care for their gardens, they develop essential fine and gross motor skills, improve hand-eye coordination and build physical strength. Gardening also sparks natural curiosity, encouraging children to learn about life cycles, growth, sustainability and the environment through engaging, real-world experiences.
Our garden provides a wonderful space for children to work together, promoting communication, language development and social skills as they share ideas, solve problems, take turns and collaborate with their friends. Just as importantly, spending time outdoors supports children's emotional wellbeing, offering a calm and nurturing environment where they can build confidence, resilience and a sense of achievement.
We are incredibly proud that the children's dedication, enthusiasm and hard work have been recognised through this award. Watching them care for their plants and celebrate the harvest has been a joy for both staff and families.
This fantastic success is a testament to the passion and commitment of our children and team, and we are already looking forward to creating an even more exciting entry for next year's Bournemouth in Bloom competition.
Congratulations, Maples Class – you have truly blossomed!
